Concrete Experience

It was 6:30 in the morning when I woke up and prepared for another day as an intern at the university museum. On this day, we didn’t have any special visitors or guests from other colleges, but we still had students coming in to visit. Even without special events, working in the museum is always a joyful experience because we continue to serve and entertain different groups, whether they are students from other schools or even visitors from other countries.

Most of my tasks for the day involved encoding information and organizing documents. I also assisted and guided students during their visits, helping curate their experience and making sure they felt welcome. The museum was quite busy, with many different people and students coming in and out throughout the day.

During our free time, my co-interns, Erica and Wawie and I had some “chika time.” We talked about life, school, and even love life. These small conversations helped us bond and get to know each other better, making our internship more enjoyable.

At one point, some students needed assistance, so we offered what we could, like giving them a “banig” (mat) to rest or sleep on in the library. Even small gestures like that made our day feel fulfilling.

Reflective Observation

As I looked back on this day, I realized how meaningful our tasks were, even if they seemed simple. There may not have been any special events, but each visitor and student who entered the museum made the day busy and exciting. I noticed how teamwork and communication with my co-interns made the workload lighter and the atmosphere more fun.

The “chika time” also reminded me that an internship isn’t just about working, it’s about building connections and creating memories with people who share the same goals.

Abstract Conceptualization

From this experience, I learned that every task, no matter how small, contributes to the overall success of the team and the organization. I also understood the importance of maintaining a positive attitude at work, especially during slow or ordinary days. Good communication, teamwork, and kindness towards others, like offering help or even a “banig” create a supportive and welcoming environment for everyone.

Active Experimentation

In the future, I will continue to develop better communication and organizational skills. I plan to take more initiative in assisting visitors and helping manage museum tasks. I also want to strengthen my teamwork with my co-interns by maintaining our good relationship and open communication. By doing this, I can make each day more productive and enjoyable, both for myself and the people I work with.
